Twelve Barriers to Customer-Driven Service

Exceptional customer service is essential to business success.  According to Joan Koob Cannie of  "Keeping Customers for Life" one barrier to customer-driven service is Customer policy that exists for the convenience and control of the company and not for the pure benefit of the customer.

If customer service drives business success it makes sense that a company should do everything within it's power to make the customer happy with the product or service provided.  If a customer wants to return an item but the customer service representative won't complete the transaction without a receipt do you think the customer will visit that company again anytime soon?
